Our values and behaviours

At BlueCove, we are in the business of solving hard problems - and of doing so scientifically. Our values are a core set of principles that facilitate decision-making, particularly hard decisions. Our behaviours, when practised collectively, serve to both create and preserve the firm's culture.

We represent many different backgrounds and experiences

We believe teams of highly competent and diverse individuals with similar values create superior outcomes for clients. We take a holistic approach to diversity and collect a broad range of data. Our employees represent many different protected characteristics. We recognise the value in supporting breadth of career paths and reducing barriers. Of our employees, 33% are the first in their family to attend university and 32% are from a non-professional socio-economic background.

Greater diversity and inclusion can create better outcomes for consumers and markets by supporting healthy work cultures, reducing groupthink, unlocking talent and improving understanding of diverse consumer needs.

We are stronger because we are cognitively diverse

We use the psychometric tool Lumina Spark to monitor and demonstrate our cognitive diversity. This tool enables us to know ourselves better, including when we may be overextended, and because we share the output in a transparent way, helps us to empathise and communicate with our colleagues. We believe better self-awareness and communication supports psychological safety and reduces groupthink, ultimately improving our ability to find solutions, to the benefit of us and our clients.

Talent development

We run apprenticeship and internship programmes to build a pipeline of talent - hear about these programmes firsthand from Bamidele and Yuwei in the videos below.

I decided to apply for the internship programme at BlueCove as it was a great opportunity to explore the fixed income scientific investment process.

Supporting initiatives and the local community

BlueCove has partnered with ReachOut, a mentoring and education charity, to organise a work experience visit for students from an under-resourced area of London so they may have an insight into financial services careers and to help grow the pipeline of talent for our industry.

For the firm's apprenticeship programme, BlueCove partnered with Barnardo's for training (a charity focused on supporting disadvantaged children and young people) and Generation for recruitment (Generation work with young people from non-professional socio-economic backgrounds, and specifically those from black and ethnic minority backgrounds).

Our employees also participate in charity events including Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day, Hope for Justice's 50 Challenge and Barnardo's Christmas Toy Appeal.
